Six Months at Oculus
Six months at Oculus have fled by and I have had to do a double take to look back and realize just how much I have accomplished since I started here. I was thrown right into the thick of things with the impending launch of the Oculus Quest; Oculus' first wireless headset! For the first 3 months I worked closely with the REX (Reality Experiences) team to create the new user experience for the Quest headset entitled First Steps. I will go much more into detail about my role and accomplishments on that project in my next blog post "First Steps: Audio Post-Mortem". At Oculus I am part of the Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality Audio Experience team where I have gotten a chance to work on many fascinating internal projects, most of which I cannot disclose here.
In addition to shipping Quest along with First Steps I also provided many assets on the product-accompanying title Dead and Buried II, a virtual reality western first person shooter with undead characters. It's quite the romp complete with a death-match style shoot 'em up, and saloon style shootouts where players can hide behind obstacles, use objects lying around and even take out their own teammates! Wild!
